Green Vegetables are IT!
Alright, I know you've read the title by now. I know what you're thinking. Green vegetables aren't anyone's favorite, right? WRONG.
I used to hate green vegetables, especially the leafy ones. Kale, spinach, cabbage??? GROSS!
As I grew older, things clearly changed because now I'm writing you this blog post.
For this post, I'm going to focus on the health benefits 3 of my favorite green vegetables:
Green Cabbage
Broccoli
Spinach
Up first - Green Cabbage!!!
PACKED with nutrients such as Vitamin K and vitamin C
Super low in calories! 1 cup of raw green cabbage is only 22 calories
Improves digestion
Reduces inflammation
Versatility in cooking
My favorite way to prepare green cabbage is by frying it or raw in a homemade slaw.
Overall green cabbage is a great vegetable that's loaded with nutrients, has many health benefits, and is super inexpensive! Typically a head of green cabbage is under $1!
Next Up, Broccoli Time!
LOADED with nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin K
High in antioxidants that support healthy cell and tissues
Reduces inflammation
Protect against certain types of cancers (i.e. Breast, Prostate, and Gastric)
Reduce constipation
Supports brain health
My favorite cooking method for broccoli: steaming!
Finally, Spinach!!
High in insoluble fiber, which is great for digestion
Great source of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin C, Iron, and vitamin K1
Supports eye health
Help moderate blood pressure
Spinach is such an easy vegetable to incorporate into your diet. My favorite ways to use spinach are in smoothies, pasta sauces, and salads!
Moral of the story: GREEN VEGGIES ARE BOMB!
